The video game industry has come far in the last thirty years, but we still can’t shake the perception that everything needs to be released in the fourth quarter of the year. It has gotten better, particularly in the last two years where heavy hitters like Grand Theft Auto IV, Resident Evil 5 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl were released in the first half of the year. Q4 2009 is still stacked with high profile titles, some of which will inevitably be overlooked in favour of Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2.
This week, The Warp Pipe is going to shed a bit of light on titles which are deserving of your attention this year, but are at risk of being lost in the Q4 shuffle.

Welcome to the latest instalment of Now Playing, where a bitter newsbot watches every trailer added to the file mirror in the previous week, (So you don't have to!) and then presents some ranting and raving about why game trailers just aren't as good as they used to be (except in a few isolated cases).
This week, we find some treasures in the real world, before going to war with a commando who happens to be Bionic. After that, we travel further into the future, in a bid to fight in-game on rails action sequences from destroying the world. Then, we contest the very sacred definition of "Epic", before meeting a damn villain.

Did you spend your weekend playing the Bionic Commando demo on PS3 or Xbox 360? If not, why not? If it's because you think that Capcom and Grin don't have a good sense of humour, think again.
They've recently released not one but two great 80's style advertisements for the game, both of which we have here for your viewing pleasure (and our fingers are crossed that we'll see more of them!). Choose from either Bionic Fireman or my favourite, Bionic Middle Manager to see what all the fuss is about.

Capcom, who are now a member of the PC Gaming Alliance, have announced plans to bring three of their major titles to the PC, starting in July, which will see the release of Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando. Later in the year, the survival horror title Resident Evil 5 will make its way to PC.
Each title will feature a number of "enhancements" for the PC. Across the board, support for resolutions higher than 720p will be present on the PC, along with online play, along with a few features that will mean the PC versions of the title are likely to appeal to all types of gamers, both those with low-end hardware and high end hardware.

Capcom have strange ways of doing things, sometimes. Earlier today, it was announced that the PlayStation Network would see an exclusive demo of a certain fighting game. Now, it has been announced that their 8-bit rebirth of Bionic Commando in typical, dazzling high definition will have its demo available exclusively on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, thus evening things out.
The demo will focus on multiplayer, and is due to hit the Xbox LIVE Marketplace tomorrow at some point. The demo will feature the 'Vertigo' level, and, as previously reported will allow gamers to make themselves at home with the controls while chasing after death and destruction, dodging romantic hails of bullets, and ultimately, the pursuit of smugness and happiness.

Capcom have announced that the revival of their once-loved, still alive, franchise, who rarely calls or writes any more (much to our dismay) - Bionic Commando will be doing everything in his power to win back our tattered and broken hearts, with the announcement that a demo for the game will be available before release.
The demo will be released on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace in "the coming weeks", with a PlayStation 3 version of the demo not yet confirmed by Capcom. The demo will focus on the "exhilarating online multiplayer" that will be but one part of the Bionic Commando gift package that will attempt to reinvigorate some sort of romance and emotion, long lost since the death of the eight-bit consoles.

Welcome to Now Playing, where each week, Games On Net invites you to enter a specially crafted theatre filled with the most irresistibly interesting, marvellously magnificent, or downright dire trailers from recently released or upcoming games. To accompany the trailers, the much celebrated rants of an embittered gamer echo throughout the deepest chasms of the Internet.
This week, we meet the Queen of Thorns, who would like to burn some zombies. After that, we throw around some electricity, which results in the escape of a bionic hero. Finally, we unleash our fists in some sort of clash.

Last month, it was revealed that Capcom had pencilled in a date of "May" for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 revival of their Bionic Commando franchise. Today - they've unveiled an exact release date for the title - with North Americans to enter the shoes of Nathan Spencer on the 19th of May, while Europe (and the rest of the world) able to play the game on the 22nd of May.
Bionic Commando places players into the shoes of Nathan Spencer, a man who is betrayed by the government after countless years of loyal service as an agent. Wrongly imprisoned, and marked for death - on the eve of his execution, an "experimental weapon" shreds through Ascension City - resulting in a massive earth quake that is accompanied by a "radioactive shock wave".

Capcom have announced that work on their re-imagining of the twenty year-old NES classic Bionic Commando is nearly complete, today stating that the game is scheduled to be released in May on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version to follow a few months later.
Bionic Commando features the voice of Mike Patton (the former lead singer of the band Faith No More), who plays Nathan Spencer aka the Bionic Commando - a government operative who is betrayed by his employer and wrongly imprisoned, after serving them loyally.

While they might not be a household name themselves, Australian game and DVD distributor Red Ant are responsible for bringing games to Australia from companies like Midway, Konami, Bethesda and Capcom. However, we're now not sure how many of those games will be arriving on our shores, as the local company has gone into receivership, mere months before the scheduled release of Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5.
It's not yet known just what will happen to these titles - nobody is answering the phones in Red Ant's offices, and we are waiting to hear back from the overseas publishers.

With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) finishing up over the weekend, there were a heap of trailers heading our way. While CES may only be an electronics show, some of the big guns in gaming appear every year to bring out some more information and trailers on some of their upcoming projects.
What will we see this week? For starters there is a Fallen Earth and a smaller Resistance. Some more fights in the street that people are flocking too. Not to be outdone, we head to the skies once again and meet someone who is InFamous in his world.

The first half of 2009 looks like being a big one for Capcom, who have confirmed that they're aiming to release seven new titles within that timeframe. The lineup covers a wide variety of genres, platforms and titles, including both new ideas and well-loved favourites.
We're looking at Flock!, Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, Neopets Puzzle Adventure, Resident Evil 5, MotoGP and Bionic Commando, all within six months (actually, it's more like the first three months...). Better start saving your pennies!

Last week we checked out some of the best trailers from 2008 but it seems the developers need just a little bit more time to get some new stuff out. So this week we will be looking at some of the best clips for games coming out this year! These videos were made to hype you up and it might have been just a little while since you have seen them. Check them out to understand why 2009 is going to be an excellent year of gaming.
Starting off this week is a high flying fighter. Then we are going back to the origin of a project, as well as hitting the streets for a fight. There is something evil around there and it might just be because of the hammer of war. But luckily we have a commando to swing into action to save us.

With some big name games released this week (and still more to come), most of you are probably off in various worlds with Lich Kings, Sack people and zombies. But if your are one of the ones still waiting around for their game of choice to be released, check out some of the new trailers we got this week.
This week we head to Persia to learn how to climb walls and Skate It. We look at some Chronicles and Commandos. The Last Remnant is out in force and causing two different universes to collide in Kombat.

Trailers have been filtering in from all over the place this week. We have been getting some from the Tokyo Game Show and BlizzCon. There has been a few launch trailers for a couple of games out this week and a few more thrown out so we don't forget about other up and coming games.
This week we hid in the shadows of a former web slinger. Check out what a commando is up to and see if he has a place to conquer. We see a dawn of a new war and a forth fight to be taken to the streets. To wrap it up we see what happens when an inferno is lit under a dark game.

With the Leipzig Games Connection coming to an end, we have still been getting in some amazing trailers for some great looking games coming up. With so many trailers out this week, I decided to include a special mention to some of the others that were impressive. So bring it on!
Some of the trailers this week are a little bit sacred and just end too quickly. You might need a wheel for a couple of them or know their origins, be it ancient dragons or future projects. But you can just sit back and enjoy watching the storm.

I was looking forward to this week with assignments out of the way, a TF2 update coming and meeting up with some forum goers this weekend. It should be pretty good. Then I wandered over to the file library and found some of the best trailers I've seen for awhile. This is a great collection this week and you definitely should come in and check them out!
Leading this empire of trailers is a story about some men and ships followed by more men and ships. After that there are chronicles and commandos to get keep it exciting. Finally we have a swarm bringing it home with a sack full of fun.

Well Day 3 is here and it hit hard. With a few poor press conferences overnight I was starting to think E3 was going to let me down this year. But some of the developers brought back my hope and delivered with some amazing trailers over night, so much so it was too hard to pick!
So naturally when you're in trouble you call for help, and who was I gonna call? I tried to get in touch with a few comic book superheroes online, but they were no help. So instead I decided to go in full force and end this war of my hard decision.

Ah, it must be that time of year again... we've gotten our hands on Capcom's full lineup for this year's E3 Media & Business Summit, a week or so before the event starts.
Of course, there's a bunch of games here that shouldn't surprise you - Street Fighter IV, Bionic Commando, and Resident Evil 5, but they've thrown in a "super secret project" - Flock, tucked in at the bottom of the list.

While we told you about it last week, Capcom and developer Grin have released some brand new information about Bionic Commando Rearmed, their makeover of the 20-year old classic, which will be available for PC as well as via Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network later this year.
This is in addition to the all-new next-gen sequel, Bionic Commando, due out soon for the same platforms.
To celebrate, we've got a bunch of screens for the new game, and even a new video, so you can see what you're getting yourself into.

Some time in 2007, Capcom announced that they had teamed up with Swedish studio GRIN to develop a new version of their arcade classic Bionic Commando for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
It doesn't seem like Capcom is quite done with the property, though. In this week's Weekly Famitsu, Capcom announced that GRIN will also be developing a remake of the NES version of Bionic Commando for release on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade sometime in the second quarter of 2008.
