The Warp Pipe - 14/12/08
With Christmas rapidly approaching, The Warp Pipe is calling time for 2008. After 45 columns without a break this year, I’m clocking off a little early to read a few books, watch some movies, replay some of 2008’s best games and of course, fly to Queensland to spend Christmas with the family. The Warp Pipe will be back on the 18th of January with a few minor tweaks and a couple of bold predictions for 2009.

Speaking of bold proclamations, The Warp Pipe made a few just before the start of the second, third and final quarters of the year. I thought we’d use the final column of the year evaluating my ability to predict the quality of soon-to-be-released video games.

Now Playing (21/10/08)
While this week has been an interesting and yet sad one with a certain Sackboy missing his flight, we still managed to get a couple of the best looking trailers I have seen, possible all year! I was in complete surprise at what some of the companies have achieved after looking at a couple of this weeks ones.

This week we look at a Legendary trailer and check back in to see what you can make in Far Africa. We join up to the midnight club and get a need for speed. We look at the fight between a game and a comic and have a look at one red hot funny alert from a presidential campaign.

Legendary release date pushed back; new screens
It's been quite a few months since we heard anything about Legendary. The latest update is that, unfortunately, the local release has been pushed back to November 14th. To comfort bereaved gamers everywhere, Spark Unlimited have blessed us with a whole bunch of new screens!

Legendary hasn't been universally successful in stirring a sense of anticipation, with opinions divided here at GON, but despite Spark unlimited's not totally stellar performances of the past, the concepts behind Legendary are just cool enough to prompt a burst of optimistic patience.

The Warp Pipe - 14/09/08
2008 has been a little different from the standard industry year, in that we’ve seen a lot of major titles released outside of the holiday shopping season. Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots were all released in the first half of the year. One would think that that might make for a less than stellar holiday line up, but the game publishers of the world (bar Nintendo) are inclined to prove otherwise.

Over the next two weeks (due to the sheer number of releases), The Warp Pipe will be boldly predicting the quality of new games in the next quarter.

Legendary - A new trailer out of Pandora's Box
In the gaming world, E3 was a long time ago. Many of the games we'd heard about then have had little news emerge as of late. Legendary, (formerly Legendary: The Box) was a title that sparked my attention due to the unique plot concept. However, my hopes were (somewhat) dashed by the fact that development team Spark Unlimited were responsible for the abomination Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.

Regardless, Spark Unlimited do seem to be onto something with Legendary. Set in an alternate present where the horrors of Pandora's box are unleashed upon the civilised world, Legendary depicts an assault on humanity lead by mythical creatures and beasts. Today, we've got a new behind the scenes trailer, which offers an insight into the development process of the game.

Legendary: The Box unleashes the horror of Pandora's Box
In one of TheMeadow's recent Now Playing features, a title I hadn't heard anything about piqued my interest a little based on the brief information he mentioned. Legendary: The Box is an all new IP developed by Spark Unlimited.

The premise for Legendary: The Box, is a very interesting one indeed. Charles Deckard, an art thief is convinced to steal (and open!) Pandora's Box. Y'know, that mythical 'box' which is actually a jar (due to a mistranslation) that contains all the evils of mankind.

Set for release on the PC, PS3 and the Xbox 360, Legendary: The Box contemplates a war that develops between myth and man following the opening of Pandora's Box. E3 has seen a flurry of new screenshots and trailers released for Legendary: The Box, and we've got all the information ready for you.

Gamecock struts its way over to Steam
The net of Steam has just gotten a bit wider, with Valve's digital distribution platform today announcing a deal with Gamecock Media Group, which will see their titles made available to more than 15 million accounts around the world.

Starting today, gamers will be able to purchase Insecticide Part 1 and Firefly Studios' Stronghold Crusader Extreme. This is just the tip of the iceberg, more Gamecock titles (such as Velvet Assassin, Legendary and Insecticide Part 2) will be available before the end of the year.

Now Playing (01/07/08)
With talk of that certain recently announced game everywhere, it was hard to not include it let alone find some good trailers. However in the shadows of one hellish game I was able to find a couple of awesome trailers for some games, that I've just learnt about, which look amazing.

This week we find some nested Dragons that might have come from a legendary box. We check in with a band that is definitely a hero and see, once again, what hilarious situation those bad army guys got themselves into this time. There is an unusual game of gridiron and a futuristic war that is raging online.
