The last week of March is upon us, which means the flow of new video game releases is going to slow to a trickle over the next couple of weeks, though we’ve got a few promising games due throughout April. The game publishers of the world are intent on giving March a good send off with Resistance Retribution for the PSP, The Wheelman for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, MadWorld for the Wii and Puzzle Quest: Galactrix for the PC and DS headlining this week’s new releases.

Square Enix have released a demo for the PC version of their multi-platform RPG, The Last Remnant. Weighing in at just over 1GB (unmetered data for Internode customers), we've got the demo ready for you to download from the file mirror.
The Last Remnant is the first Square Enix RPG in a long time to make its way to the PC. Powered by the Unreal 3 engine, the game focuses on a world that is torn apart by conflict over mysterious artefacts known as "Remnants", which is filled "exhilarating, large scale battles".

It has been quite some time since a notable Square Enix has made the transition to the PC. Enter the recently released Xbox 360 RPG, The Last Remnant and a date of "March". Powered by the Unreal 3 Engine, the RPG should "port" elegantly enough to the PC.
As though to reaffirm this case, Square Enix have released a benchmark client which allows users to have a glimpse as to how the actual game will run on their PCs. There's options to run either in a window, full screen, and at multiple resolutions.

The Last Remnant, the latest RPG from Square Enix was recently released on the Xbox 360. Some time ago, we brought you the news that the game would be a multi-platform release, but there has been little word as to when the PC and PS3 versions of the title would eventuate.
Today, that changes, with Square Enix having just announced that the PC version of the game will be made available to PAL regions in the Australian Autumn of 2009. The RPG, which is powered by the Unreal 3 engine focuses on protagonist Rush, who witnesses the abduction of his sister. The game's tale then unfolds as Rush embarks on a search for his sister.

With Christmas rapidly approaching, The Warp Pipe is calling time for 2008. After 45 columns without a break this year, I’m clocking off a little early to read a few books, watch some movies, replay some of 2008’s best games and of course, fly to Queensland to spend Christmas with the family. The Warp Pipe will be back on the 18th of January with a few minor tweaks and a couple of bold predictions for 2009.
Speaking of bold proclamations, The Warp Pipe made a few just before the start of the second, third and final quarters of the year. I thought we’d use the final column of the year evaluating my ability to predict the quality of soon-to-be-released video games.

While it has been allegedly scheduled for a multi-platform release on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, Square Enix's latest title, The Last Remnant, has (at present) only made its way to Microsoft's platform. Powered by the Unreal 3 engine, The Last Remnant sees the discovery of mysterious artefacts all over the world known as The Remnants.
These artefacts see exploitation by power-hungry individuals, who inevitably disrupt the equilibrium present in the world. In turn, this sparks a war, and a thousand years layer, on a secluded island - a brother investigates the sudden kidnapping of his sister. In his search for his sister, he unravels the "evils of the outside world". Square Enix have released a two new trailers from the title, one showing off combat, and the other some verdant green fields.

With some big name games released this week (and still more to come), most of you are probably off in various worlds with Lich Kings, Sack people and zombies. But if your are one of the ones still waiting around for their game of choice to be released, check out some of the new trailers we got this week.
This week we head to Persia to learn how to climb walls and Skate It. We look at some Chronicles and Commandos. The Last Remnant is out in force and causing two different universes to collide in Kombat.

I have to say I've been fairly pleased to see the number of RPGs on the Xbox 360 increasing. Whether you believe it's part of Microsoft's plan to conquer Japan, or simply that developers are aware that not every Xbox 360 owner is solely interested in FPS and racing titles, if you're a fan of the genre, it's been a pleasing year with quite a few releases and announcements. One of the new RPGs headed our way is The Last Remnant, and SquareEnix have been kind enough to preview a new trailer at the Tokyo Game Show. Let's take a look.

The Holiday flood begins this Thursday with the release of an ungodly amount of games, including Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway, Crysis Warhead and Wipeout HD, and doesn’t stop until the week before Christmas. To save you all a bit of time, I like to run through the release list at the start of a given quarter, and make sweeping generalisations as to the quality of upcoming games.
Last week’s Warp Pipe covered the games of October, so this week we’re looking at November’s big hitters, including Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead and Mirror’s Edge.

Yesterday had a survival horror theme, but today seems to be packed with news from RPGs. While that may be a horrifying prospect for some of you, there honestly hasn't been anything huge come out of the E3 Media & Business Summit this year thus far.
Enter: Square Enix with yet another RPG. The Last Remnant is powered by the Unreal 3 engine, and will see a release on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and with Microsoft's stamp of approval, the PC.

Good news for Aussie Microsoft and RPG fans - should such creatures exist - as SquareEnix do the right thing by us and announce PAL territory (that's us, along with Europe, NZ and a few miscellaneous others, by the way) release dates for its forthcoming Xbox 360 line up, with three adventurous titles due this or next year.
