Games On Net sent out field operative Rebecca Cannon to check out the show in its new location at the Royal Exhibition Centre in Carlton. How did Australia's biggest gaming show go down in its fourth year? Read on to find out.

New Splinter Cell: Conviction trailer
When we went to the Assassin's Creed 2 event last week we had a sneaky glimpse of Splinter Cell: Conviction at the same time. We also watched Avatar: The Game on a 3D-screen, but that's a story for another day...

Anyway, hot off the back of TGS and last week's event comes this latest trailer, a developer walkthrough showing off the latest adventures of Mr. Sam Fisher.

Enjoy!

Now Playing (29/09/09)
It is Tuesday, and that means it is time for another edition of Now Playing, where we examine several trailers, bemoan their existence, and generally speak in short, hushed tones about the other side of video game marketing.

Today we will take a look at some zombies who happen to not always obey the laws of on-rails shooters, followed by a visit from a guardian. After that, we go undercover, pretending that we know something about a certain recently launched MMO, before finally looking at what exactly it takes to kill a dream.

Ubisoft bigwig blasé on Conviction delays
Yves Guillemot, CEO and co-founder of global gaming powerhouse Ubisoft, is unconcerned about the repeated delays suffered by his company's flagship title Splinter Cell: Conviction.

In a recent interview with British games industry mag MCV, the Frenchman cited a crowded Christmas market and quality concerns as reasons for pushing the espionage action game back into 2010.

Weekly Digest - 7/09/2009
Each week, we collate the most popular stories that we published over the past seven days, plus a lineup of the most downloaded files added in the same timeframe. That way, in case you missed something, you can catch up in one helpful little spot, every Monday morning.

Last week, StarCraft II was big news, even though there wasn't really any big announcements about the game at BlizzCon this year. A great bug update for Battlefield 2 was also popular, followed by a trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Also popular were a bunch trailers from Ubisoft.

What else was popular last week? Read on to find out!

Ubisoft's trailer disasters don't end with Assassin's Creed II
Because we all know how much you guys loved the Assassin's Creed II trailer from earlier this morning, we've made it our mission today to prove that Ubisoft have gone a bit crazy. (It must be all those Rabbids.)

We're not making baseless claims though, we have new evidence, your collective honours. Take exhibit b, this new trailer from Splinter Cell: Conviction, lovingly prepared by the work experience kid at Ubisoft, or so we hope.

Xbox LIVE Summer Update details revealed... sort of
Microsoft are planning big things for the Xbox 360, particularly with regards to Xbox LIVE. They're calling their latest additions, due August 11th, the "Summer Update", which should already tell you everything you need to know about it. If not, take a look outside and tell me if you think it looks very summery - no? Well, perhaps that's because you have the misfortune to not reside in the United States, the locale for which most of the most interesting bits of information are relevant.

Never mind, it makes pretty good reading as a kind of comprehensive wishlist for features we'd like to see hit Australia, and maybe one day we will!

Now Playing (28/07/09)
This week's instalment of Now Playing comes to you with a distinct mission and focus - to present a collection of trailers in some way, shape of form that are related to the events which occurred at Comic Con half way around the world at the San Diego Convention Center.

While comics and video games aren't strictly related, the sub-culture and interests of both audiences clash, so, in typical game developer / publisher style, a horde of trailers with the suffix "Comic Con" have surfaced this week, and as always, Now Playing is here to tell you just how bad they are!

This week, we take a look at a comic that sat by and watched as it was turned into a game, before looking at a somewhat evil pitch for a potential comic. After that, we explore an area that isn't all that very well covered in comics, namely relating to dragons and their origins. Once that is done, we find our selves convicted to a splinter cell of sorts, before fighting our way to freedom from within an army comprised of two.

Splinter Cell Conviction sentenced to new trailer
At E3, we were thoroughly impressed at what we saw and learnt about Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, so it gives us great pleasure to see that Ubisoft have released the first developer diary discussing some of the new features that will be introduced in Sam Fisher's return into gaming.

The trailer introduces us to several of the developers, who, in turn, explain the new gameplay features of the title, which include "Last Known Position", and "Mark and Execute", the ability to queue up targets or traps to assist Mr. Fisher while he infiltrates various environments in the game.

[E3 2009] Games On Net goes to E3: Splinter Cell: Conviction Interview
While the rest of us are stuck at home, experiencing E3 only through the wonders of the internets, Bennett Ring and a Games On Net camera crew are stationed in LA, checking out all of the goodies first hand.

Showcased at the Ubisoft Press Conference early in the piece was Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, which is nearing completion after a long development period. Alexandre Parizeau, Producer on the game, and Andreane Meunier, the Production Manager were hanging around the Ubisoft booth, and were more than happy to answer some questions for those of us stuck at home, filling us in on the storyline, showing off some of the great gameplay contextual attacks, talking more about Mark and Execute, and explaining why the game was so very long in development.

[E3 2009] Splinter Cell: Conviction - more details and trailers from E3
At both the Ubisoft and Microsoft E3 press conferences in Los Angeles, the latest Sam Fisher outing, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction turned a lot of heads and made a lot of noise.

The game, which will be available on the Xbox 360 and PC in the Australian Spring of this year (Autumn for those in the Northern Hemisphere) will see players take on the role of an angry Sam Fisher, who is trying to find out who killed his daughter.

E3: Microsoft Press Conference Part 1
So. The second webcast for my E3 2007 experience was the Microsoft E3 Press Conference, from Santa Monica High School. It was a lengthy presentation and full of all sorts of interesting information - so I'm breaking it up into bitesize pieces for easy digestion. I'm nice like that.

Anyway - if you'd tuned in to the live stream yesterday, you would have been treated to Peter Moore, head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division playing Rock Band on stage with some of the developers from Harmonix. It was, perhaps, the worst version of Main Offender (originally by The Hives) that I have ever seen. You should perhaps be grateful that you missed it.

In other news, though, all of the games shown as part of the conference will be available (at least in North America) by the end of the year.
