NCSoft post 315% increase in profits
NCsoft, the Korean based MMO developer and publisher have announced their financial results for the year to date, which, even amid economic turmoil, has seen profits grow an astounding 315%. The massive increase in cash flow has been credited to the release of Aion - Tower of Eternity, which recently saw release to Korean markets.

The reason for NCsoft's stellar performance is due to an increase in margins, of which Aion - Tower of Eternity contributed some US$107.7 million. 34% of its sales were for Aion - Tower of Eternity, with other major titles such as Lineage series, and City of Heroes also contributing to the success of the company.

Lineage II - What is up with those new, colourful screens?
This week's Monday Screens contained a few images that raised a bit of discussion among forum goers. Three pictures were marked as Lineage II, but looked very different to the traditional, hardcore PvP look we've come to expect from the series.

Was it a clerical error? Had some cutesy MMO had its pictures accidentally added to the wrong game? What was going on?

...well, I have all the answers for you - and I can confirm, it is not a mistake. Those images are really from Lineage II, and I'm about to tell you why.

As a result, the soundtrack and audio of games is now a very important consideration for developers in order to deliver an immersive and engaging experience for the player. Fallout 3, the eagerly anticipated title from Bethesda is the latest in a stream of titles that is receiving a helping hand in the audio department, courtesy of composer Inon Zur.

Lineage 3: Source Code Pinched
Korea's largest game developer NCsoft is currently under police investigation - again - this time over the fact that a large chunk of code for upcoming MMORPG title Lineage III has, well, been stolen. Not only that, it's apparently been sold to a major Japanese game company... and it looks like it was an inside job.

Seven former NCsoft employees are currently under suspicion. They left the Korean firm earlier this year, and in a later job interview with the Japanese company, showed off the software they'd been working on. It's believed the technology may have been copied during the demonstration.
