The guys behind the Half-Life 2 mod, Dystopia have announced that they intend to soon release version 1.2 of the cyberpunk mod. With plans for Steamworks support, the squashing of many bugs, and a visual overhaul, and a whole lot more, the mod will be completely overhauled and revitalised with the release of 1.2.
While there's no exact date for the release, a member of the development team assures us it's "amazing", and will be out "very" soon - with gamers able to download the 1.2 version of the mod directly through their Steam client when it is released. In the interim, we've got a nice fact sheet to share with you - which outlines the major changes that have been made.

Proving once again that the gaming community is open to change and (generally) quick to respond to updates and changes, the Dystopia mod devs have released a v1.1 client patch, mere weeks after releasing v1.
There's the usual handful of fixes, mainly to crashes either server- or client-side, and now each team has its own specific "pain and death sounds". Because - y'know - that's what you want in a game, right?
We've also got some shiny new screenshots, if that's your thing - and don't forget, we've got four Dystopia servers set up! All you need is a copy of Half-Life 2, a couple of downloads, and you're set!

The Dystopia team have announced the first major release of thier total conversion mod for Half-Life 2.
Dystopia places the player into tense combat situations in a high-tech world spanned by computer networks. As either Punks or Corp Mercenaries the player will fight through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals, to cyberspace.
Version 1 of this mod comes with eight new maps to go with the existing three from the beta release. They have also added new weapons and made many changes to tweak and improve gameplay.
For those you don't know the mod you can grab the teaser video here and for those who know it and want to play it on the recently put up Internode server all you need is Half-Life 2 and the Dystopia v1.0 Client.

I'm of the opinion that cyberpunk is an oft-overlooked genre when it comes to computer gaming. Looks like someone else is of a similar opinion, with the long-time development of Dystopia, a mod for Half-Life 2 that has produced several demos but has never been quite finished.
All that's about to change - Dystopia V1 is finally ready to be released, so you'd all better stay at home on Saturday - it's being made live from 10:30am, Adelaide time. To celebrate, here - have a teaser video, made specially for the occasion.
Intrigued?
