Left 4 Dead 2 launches bi-weekly community campaigns

Valve are starting something new this week with Left 4 Dead 2, in the form of bi-weekly community campaigns. Every two weeks a new community campaign will be launched on the servers, giving players a chance to find games easier and familiarise themselves with the maps. 120 servers have been setup around the globe to launch the first featured campaign: Two Evil Eyes.

I'm not sure of the connection, but the name is the very same as a little known horror flick from zombie movie legends George A Romero (Creator of the modern flesh eating zombie) and Dario Argento (of Zombi 2 fame). The title had little to do with zombies (ok, maybe just a tiny bit) but I'm definitely keen to check this campaign out for myself.

Taken from the Left 4 Dead 2 blog, to access the community campaign on PC:
Download Left 4 Dead 2 Add-on support in the tools tab of the Steam library.

Download the following campaign from our friends at L4Dmaps.com.

Double clicking the vpk should install it but you can also copy the vpk to Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/addons . Either way that is where the vpks need to end up.

Start up Left 4 Dead 2. Choose to play online and any available game/lobby in your area will show up. Or you can create your own game and choose addons and select 2 Evil Eyes for the campaign.

Since we have the servers up, you can choose Official Dedicated for server type.

We’ll be looking for you online! Watch out for the rock! You’ll know what I mean when you play.
Just a heads up, apparently we can expect something big next Friday August 20th on Game Trailers TV. It might be a new wave of DLC or it might be the announcement of a Mac version. Apparently Friday will hold all the answers. We'll keep you posted as news breaks.

EDIT: Files are now up on the server network.
