Atari splurge on Neverwinter domains, tease new D&D release

If you don't role play you're no kinda man.
You shooter types can take a back seat for a minute; it's time to commune directly with one of the most actively welcoming communities to grace our servers. Ladies and gentlemen, let's talk about Neverwinter Nights. More precisely, let's talk about the fact that Atari are teasing a Dungeons and Dragons reveal, and have registered seven domain names on the Neverwinter theme.

Speaking at GenCon Indianapolis on the weekend, the publisher of two of the most popular and enduring D&D-based titles quietly admitted they had a new game in the works, but gave no further details.

Naturally this proved no barrier to the ever-reliable Superannuation, who dutifully turned the Internet upside down until evidence was found: seven domain names registered the day before the convention.

Maybe they are planning something entirely different, but anticipated domain squatters reacting in a knee-jerk fashion to the news... or maybe it's a new Neverwinter Nights. Think about which of those two possibilities pleases you more. We can pretty certain BioWare are not involved, but although Obsidian are hard at work on Dungeon Siege 3, we know they have another project in the works, so we can't rule them out. Yesssss.

The domains in question don't give much away, and, you'll notice, are sadly missing the number "three" implying a direct sequel: visitneverwinter.com; neverwinter-game.com; neverwintergame.com; play-neverwinter.com; playneverwinter.com; save-neverwinter.com; and saveneverwinter.com

Could this be the long-fabled MMO? Does the NWN universe even need an MMO, given game masters manage to produce an experience equal to and frequently better than MMORPGS offer?
