R18+ discussion delayed - AGAIN!

The future of an R18+ rating for Australia has again taken another blow into uncertainty. The next meeting planned to discuss changes to the ratings system in Australia has been unfortunately "cancelled".

The Standing Committee of Attorneys-Generals, who hold the power to determine the change to our classification system, had planned to meet this month in Perth to continue their deliberation on the topic, amongst other matters. Unfortunately due to the calling of a Federal Election, that meeting has been canned.

Since Michael Atkinson's departure, the future of the classification system has been one of the most hotly discussed topics in the local gaming world. A meeting was originally planned to take place back in May. The findings of that meeting were unfortunately determined inconclusive and the future of an R18+ rating for gaming was again plunged into limbo as the Ministers sought "further analysis of community and expert views".

The cancellation means that the planned meeting won't occur until November 4-5 when the Standing Committee of Attorneys-Generals plan to meet again in Canberra.

Thanks to Schwolop for the tip!
