Branded for life - Local competition offers $9000 gaming tattoo as major prize

Note: Tattoo does not guarantee the ability to kick ass
Ranking right up there with Acclaim's infamous Turok name change promotion back in 2002. To promote the recently released Yakuza 3 in conjunction with Zoo Weekly, Sega are offering one committed individual the opportunity to have their entire back tattooed with a replica of series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu's dragon back piece.

I've heard some crazy competitions over the years, but this might just take the cake. Back in 2002, the now defunct, Acclaim offered British residents £500 and an Xbox prize pack for those willing to legally change their names to Turok, to promote Turok: Evolution.

While the Turok promotion was a little less permanent (those who took up the promotion were also supplied forms to legally change their name back after one year), this is one prize that is skin deep.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is an awesome idea for a competition, but somehow I think it's a prize lost on ZOO Weekly's reader base. Sure you'll find plenty of readers with tats within the pages, but to find one willing to take on a massive Yakuza inspired, gaming tattoo? And a niche game locally at that! On the bright side, all the tattoos in the Yakuza series have been exclusively designed by the world renowned tattoo artist Horitomo.

I always see tattoos as a very personal marking, but hey, if you're a big enough fan of the series, then by all means I would love to see the final result! What are you thoughts?

If the competition has taken your fancy then follow the link for the entry form. You have until 11.59pm Saturday to enter.
