Left 4 Dead 2 chokes gamers with a fistful of irony

It seems as though there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Australian gamers, although sadly it's more a shade of "sucked in" sepia rather than "heaps bloody" red.

PCgameshardware.com has benchmarked both the cut and uncut versions of Left 4 Dead 2, with results that may strike you as ever-so-slightly ironic...

It turns out that the censored version ran a full 40% faster than the uncensored version, irrespective of hardware. The site reckons this could lead to unfair advantages online, especially in versus mode. If this is true, and owners of the uncut version started toning down the gore to get better performance we honestly wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. Would you?
