The final quarter of 2009 has been absolute gaming heaven. Many decent games have been released across all 3 of the main gaming platforms, with the likes of Uncharted 2, Borderlands, and Dragon Age: Origins just being a few of them.

And now, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due for release within a week. To help you get the best deal on a preorder, we've covered the lowest prices for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Please be aware we will be purely just summarizing the deals for the Standard Edition.

PC Version
If you're just after the PC version of MW2 and you want to buy retail, you only really get one option and that is to buy it out, no gimmicks. Cheapest on the shelf we’ve reported is $79 for the Standard Edition at K-Mart. Quick and easy.

Xbox 360 and PS3 versions
Now, if you want MW2 on each of these consoles, you have two options available. The first is to just buy it outright for $82 at Big W, the lowest we have seen so far. The second method will allow you to get it down to a possible approximate $60, using our "Trade Bait" method outlined in an earlier Economical Gamer feature.

JB Hi-Fi currently has a Modern Warfare 2 trade deal running – where you trade in 3 same-format games and get it for free. Standards exclusions apply and the list can be found here (PDF).

Since EB Games overhauled their website, they've removed their Preowned Games section completely but luckily it’s not too hard to find. From our experience, EB Games is still one of the best places to find your preowned "Trade Bait".

Get $30 Profit from Trade Baiting
If you look hard and hunt diligently, it should be pretty easy to nab MW2 for $60 from JB Hi-Fi on Xbox 360 and PS3. Now, word has it from our members that MW2 will be worth $95 trade credit at EB Games for the first week after release.

Can you do the math? Yes, buy some Preowned games, trade them in for MW2, then take your MW2 back to EB (or a different one, at your discretion) and score an extra $35 store credit to use at EB Games.
