Hidden amongst the game's back roads and deepest dungeons are a handful of little gems that will cause Neverwinter Nights and Baldur's Gate fans a few moments of amused retrospection...
While Dragon Age: Origins is set in an entirely new game world from BioWare's previous fantasy RPGS, and bearing in mind copyright issues that prevent overt or direct references, Mr Darrah confirmed that eagle-eyed and encyclopedic explorers will encounter a few in-jokes and Easter eggs:
"For the hardcore Bioware fan, we make very minor references that, if you really, really, really know the story from our previous games, you might catch it. But I’m not sure how many people will notice them."If you're not the sort to memorise names, faces and items, you might still enjoy a few less-cryptic references:
"... there’s a shop, which is heavily inspired by the magical shops in the Baldur’s Gate series. ... There are a few plots that are heavily reminiscent. There are a few undead off the unbeaten path that people will recognize."We're only a few weeks from the release date now, so when we actually get our hands on it, I expect our resident BioWare experts to clue the rest of us in.
