Here comes another rumour, and another DS model, and right now, I am almost willing to believe it.
This time, there's no dodgy magazine scans or piecemeal Japanese translations; the rumour comes courtesy of a "confidential source" at GPU manufacturer nVidia, who told a reported that the company had won a contract with Nintendo to supply the new handheld console's processor.
The company apparently won the contract by proposing a single-chip system in the form of a Tegra System-On-Chip processor, which appealed to Nintendo's keep-it-simple aesthetic over rival's offerings. Theoretically, a Tegra chip could support backwards compatibility with current DS and DSi software.
The same source apparently implied a late 2010 debut for the new hardware.
