[TGS] KOEI's new line up
Tokyo Game Show, I love you. Japan is a country that really gets my desire to hit things with sticks, and local boys KOEI were out in force on the show floor. Fans of frantic, button-mashing hack-and-slash are in for a real treat, with trailers and screenshots from not one, not two, not even three but four upcoming releases. Let's kick off the action with Omega Force's brand new fantasy IP, TRINITY: Souls of Zill O'll.

Souls of Zill O'll, which makes me vow never to make up names for fantasy settings, looks to be a bit of a departure for the team behind the Warriors franchise. Well, except that you still hit things with stick. Gone are the historical Asian settings, replaced by a mish-mash of Western fantasy elements, and also gone is the 1 vs 1000 theme in favour of a three member party system. Peruse the screenshots at your leisure.

The second most exciting KOEI project comes from one of their international studios, in Canada. Still bearing the Warriors label but with an entirely different team behind it, Warriors: Legends of Troy is likely to benefit from recent films like 300 and yes, Troy, which have made it cool again to like blokes in kilts smacking each other with spears.

A very un-revealing cinematic trailer has come along, and features a terribly over-dramatic voice over that makes me wistful for the usual dodgy Omega Force team. But these new artworks and screenshots are blissfully silent, while speaking volumes about hectic battles.

Warriors: Legends of Troy, Samurai Warriors 3, and Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce.

Back with Omega Force now, for two new entries into the burgeoning Warriors portfolio. Of most interest to hardcore fans is Samurai Warriors 3, which is both disappointing and pleasing fans with its exclusive Wii release: not the HD update we asked for, but more of the same is a lot better than seeing this series go down the appalling Dynasty warriors 6 line. Celebrate the Sanada with another spanking trailer and some screenshots featuring the new Kaiden special attack.

In their final attempt to stagger us with their bounty, we've also received a boatload of screenshots and a new trailer for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 release of the PSP title, Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce.

I know I'm the number one hit-things-with-sticks fan in these parts, and even I am glutted on this feast. Oh, to be in Tokyo!
