Arkham Asylum ships over 2.5 million copies

The latest video game to star the Dark Knight has shipped over two and a half million copies world-wide. Starring Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker, Batman: Arkham Asylum has won gushing praise from fans and critics alike for its brutal combat and genuinely sinister atmosphere.
This is quite a turnaround for UK developer Rocksteady. The studio's debut game, Urban Chaos: Riot Response, sold poorly in spite of its excellence. Arkham Asylum's success vindicates Rocksteady's efforts; it would be safe to assume that a sequel is in the planning stages, and that the studio's immediate future is assured.
Arkham Asylum's ascendance has provoked a gushing, yet accurate assessment from Martin Tremblay, president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The tremendous critical and commercial success of Batman: Arkham Asylum sets a new benchmark for superhero games. Rocksteady Studios created an excellent game and the sales numbers demonstrate how a powerful franchise fused with high-quality production resonates with consumers.”
