Pearl Jam's latest album available in Rock Band this week

Can't sing. Don't know the words yet.
It's Music Monday, and that means I am attracted to music game news - so it's pretty handy that something more or less exciting happens in the rhythm action genre every ten and a half seconds, if you believe the press releases.

Still, I would probably have perked an ear at this one regardless of my Monday-morning need for new tunes; Pearl Jam's latest album, Backspacer, is the latest brand new release to join the select number of full studio albums to be made available via the Rock Band Store.

Backspacer is the tenth album from the grunge band that will apparently never die. In a cute little piece of PR wording that I have filed away for future reference, it will turn up in Rock Band format "immediately surrounding" the album's release yesterday. I have translated this as "format staggered release"; Xbox 360 owners should see Backspacer on available now, with the Wii version sneaking in tomorrow, and PlayStation 3 sadly trailing behind on the 24th, in line with the usual Thursday update.

This isn't the first full length Pearl jam album to hit the Rock band Store, of course; the classic Ten was made available to plastic guitarists everywhere when reissued in March this year.

It's kind of cool to be able to get our hands on a new album in an interactive format before we've actually pootled down to the music store, although I wonder if any but hard core fans of the band are keen to lash out on tracks they're not familiar with?
