Now Playing 15/09/09

Welcome to this week's edition of Now Playing, where each and every Tuesday, we attempt to bring to your attention what we think are the best and worst trailers have been released in the past week.
Today, we take a look at a number of games, where we actually try to have a consistent theme throughout now playing. This week we will have an RPG theme, three games featured start with a D (try and guess them all!), and through some random twist of fate, two of them are developed by the Gods over at Bioware. The last is one that has made headlines before, and will probably make headlines again.

While the US announcement trailer for Divinity 2 - Ego Draconis isn't nearly ss dramatic as the European trailers we've seen for the game before (and actuall tells us very little about the actual game) - it does show off new gameplay footage. The premise of the game is pretty unique, and let us not forget the fact that it has Dragons. You cannot beat Dragons.

Whenever a game promotes itself on the strength of its 'Visceral Action' I tend to recoil a bit. But when Demon's Souls comes into the equation as potentially one of the only decent independently developed RPGs for the PlayStation 3, you to tend to pay attention, especially if your black box has been neglected for a while. It looks like a good game, and appears to have some good feedback from the gaming press at large, so keep an eye out for it if you want an RPG to tide you over until you can find time to sink your teeth into our next title...

If there is one game that almost every RPG fan is going to buy this year, it must be Dragon Age: Origins. It is the one beacon of hope (in my opinion, at least) for PC gamers wanting something new that isn't a FPS, and isn't really a console port. I mean, yes, Dragon Age: Origins is releasing on the consoles, but we all know that the PC version will be best, because, y'know, it is a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, which is about as awesome as you can get.

Even though I have never, ever seen a Star Wars film, I love playing Star Wars games. If you throw Bioware into the mix, I am very, very interested. The latest trailer from The Old Republic gives us some new back story to the game, and is produced in the same style as previous trailers for the game. There's a lot of info in the trailer, and it should satisfy those wanting to know more information about the game.

I'm quite glad that the trailer you are about to see is not a typical developer diary. It is, what I imagine, a developer diary from Valve would be, if they ever produced one. It tells us absolutely nothing about the game that we don't already know, and it is genuinely funny. I won't describe it, that will just ruin the surprise. Watch it.

The trailers listed below are the ones that have been added to the mirror in the last seven days that really, just didn't make it into Now Playing for no real reason. They could be interesting, they could be terrible, some of them may not even be trailers!
In any case, we have a rather large file library, and just look at all the trailers that aren't getting any love! Go give them all a hug, lest they grow into repressed teenagers stuck in the bodies of incredibly rich celebrities who all turn out to be like Kayne West.
