Japan is fielding a whole gaggle of guests, representing the anime portions of the events as well as some of the more epic games. Kō Ōtani's list of composition credits includes a range of cult and classic anime, but the entry closest to most of our hearts is Shadow of the Colossus. Also representing Japanese classical composition are Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger) and Go Shīna (Tales of Vesperia, Tekken 6).
Joining the previously announced Inon Zur in representing the West are Steve Jablonsky (Command & Conquer 3, Metal Gear Solid 2), Chris Velasco (Hellgate: London, Prototype), and the LA-based Wataru Hokoyama (Resident Evil 5).
Several vocalists and voice actors join the composers. Chiaki Takahashi has appeared in several anime series, including Hellsing, Inu Yasha and Gantz as well as providing the dulcet tones of Litchi Faye Ling in BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. The mysterious vocalist Aika Tsuneoka appears on the bonus track Last Angel found on Echoes of War, the Eminence Blizzard soundtrack collection.
Also attending will be singer-songwriter Ashley Auburn, a collaborative partner of Inon Zur, whose single Out of Darkness is an integral part of Devil May Cry 4's dramatic prologue. Her voice appears in several other games, including Lost Planet, and is also set to appear in an upcoming BioWare title. Gee, I wonder which one?
Following the concert, Eminence's musicians will join these special guests in a free meet-and-greet session during which the public can mingle with (and obtain autographs from!) this pool of classical music celebrities. A Night in Fantasia 2009 takes place on the 26th of September at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster; see the event's official website for further details.
