If you keep an eye on the weekly Steam Top Sellers you'll know that new MMORPG Aion is already one of the best-selling titles around, more than a month before release. I wonder how many copies it will shift when it actually releases? We'll know soon enough; NCSoft are justifiably excited to announce that the game has gone gold, meaning it is on its way to manufacturers to be packed onto discs and sent winging around the world for sale.

If you're considering lashing out on the Limited Collector's Edition (details of which can be found here that's currently storming the charts, you'd better move quick with your itchy pre-order trigger finger, as according to NCSoft, retailers are reporting dwindling supplies.

Hopefully all this excitement prior to launch is related to the quality of the final release, with all signs pointing to "yes"; testers in the game's closed beta managed to rack up three million hours of gameplay between them, indicating at least a few reasons to hang around the Tower of Eternity. Aion officially releases down under on September 23rd; it might be time to chum up to the leave officer.
