Razer to release Starcraft II peripherals
Since I'm the sort who excitedly knocks cups of tea all over my keyboard and mouse on a regular basis, I've never invested in any of the admittedly highly attractive range of gaming hardware from Razer. Then again, Razer have never before released a line of Starcraft II branded accessories! The specially-designed range will eventually include mouse, keyboard and headset, but kicks off with this snazzy messenger bag.

The image is obviously only a mock-up, with the actual bag (which measures 58cm x 37cm x 8.5cm) to debut at Blizzcon, but Razer have already released a fact sheet outlining the bag's essential features, explaining just why you should instantly begin to covet it.

  • Armored with a tear-resistant, weather-proof heavy duty 1680D ballistic nylon outer shell
  • Water-resistant Ripstop nylon inner lining for added durability
  • Single shoulder sling design for added mobility
  • Easy one-handed release chest clasp enables quick and convenient access
  • Built in compartments for laptops, gaming peripherals and portable gaming devices
  • Padded inner lining protects electronic devices and provides ample shock absorbency while on the road
I notice they fail to mention why we'd need to take our laptops anywhere to indulge in Starcraft II, given that it famously will not support LAN play. I suppose it helps advertise your obsession to the outside world, which the rest of the upcoming range, hoarded carefully in your gaming den, will not.

No details of the keyboard, mouse and headset have been revealed, but the range is described as "tournament-grade" and "designed to maximise" the Starcraft II experience, as well as loaded with "unique exclusive features" and set to "revolutionize the RTS category". More details will likely surface as soon as they are decided on, since the entire range is still in the very early stages, as Razer president Robert Krakoff comments:
"We’re extremely excited to be working with Blizzard Entertainment on the StarCraft II gaming peripherals and gear. The project is in the development phase with a focus on serving up innovative features while offering precision, cutting-edge technology, accuracy, speed and comfort."
More incredibly-vague description comes courtesy of Blizzard CEO Paul Sams:
"Razer’s high-quality gaming products have long been popular among our global community of players, and we’re pleased to now be collaborating with them directly,” said Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment. “Through this partnership, we’re looking forward to working with Razer to develop a line of peripherals that will complement the fast-paced action of StarCraft II."
Unless they install a "spawn more overlords" button on the scroll wheel, I am completely clueless as to what these exciting features might be, but let's hope they include "awesome decals".
