It's been a long journey for Sacred II: Fallen Angel, but ten months after its PC release, and with the assistance of several comprehensive patches, the sadly bug-riddled RPG is delivering a much more rewarding experience. Those who stuck loyally by their platform of choice now have something to look forward to lording over their console buddies with: a PC-exclusive add-on, Ice & Blood. We have a chilly, gore-splattered trailer and some equally intemperate screenshots to gloat over!

The expansion, which is due before the end of the year, includes a new protagonist - the Dragon Mage - as well as two brand new locations, a handful of additional quests, items for each of the protagonists and even new enemies to beat up, preferably messily, while complaining about the unseasonal cool change.

The expansion is particularly exciting given the near collapse of Sacred II developers Ascaron Entertainment and the removal of a large proportion of their former staff to new studio Gaming Minds; Ice & Blood is the first indication that things might be ticking along nicely again - or perhaps it has more to do with the financial backing of publisher Koch Media? While the PC version of Scared II was largely self-published by Ascaron (possibly biting off a little more than they could chew), Ice & Blood will appear world-wide under Koch's Deep Silver label, with Ascaron relegated to "co-publishing partner" status.

Ascaron's CEO Heiko tom Felde doesn't seem to mind the loss of autonomy:
"As a leading publisher and distributor, Deep Silver has shown what is possible in a good partnership, and thus made a major contribution to the success of Sacred 2 on all platforms. Therefore, it makes sense to continue the successful cooperation, and market the Sacred 2 add-on 'Ice & Blood' together with Koch Media,"Well, as long as it gets here, something Koch Media's Georg Larch is confident of:
"We are very pleased that, together with Ascaron, we now get to publish the expansion of the extremely successful 'SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel' for PC as well. We know how fervently the fan community is yearning for new adventures, and we are confident that we will be able to release 'Ice & Blood' within a matter of months,"Don't say "months" as if you weren't twisting my soul with impatience!
