Last week, everybody wanted to take a first glimpse at the first officially released gameplay footage from Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare. Other news that was popular included an explanation about EVE Online from the developers, what was to be contained within the Assassin's Creed II collector's edition.

Finally, lots of people wanted to hear all about the fact that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed would be making its way to both the PC and Mac.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay trailer

Infinity Ward have released a new trailer from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which shows off some game play footage from the multi player component of the game. While the trailer is entitled "AC-130" - and is related to the kill streaks and off-map support you could call in (similar to the first game) - there's not all that much of the AC-130 appearing in the trailer, with the exception of a few barrages, and one being shot down.

EVE Online explains the Butterfly Effect

It's very difficult to explain massively multiplayer online games to people who don't know what they're all about - but a secret posse of developers at CCP have created a new video in their latest attempt to show people what EVE Online is all about. In the new trailer, called The Butterfly Effect, they hope to explain what a persistent, single-shard world really means for gameplay - and how the actions of one person can ripple across the entire ingame universe, potentially affecting more than 300,000 gamers.

Assassin's Creed II - Collectors Edition revealed

Ubisoft have announced not one, but two special editions for Assassin's Creed II, which is due for release on the 17th of November this year. The collector's editions promise to entice those who consider themselves collectors, and fans of the series, with assorted objects and extra content to be included in both the "White", and "Black" editions of Assassin's Creed II.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed finally coming to PC and Mac

When it was released last year, it surprised many people that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed wasn't due to make its way to the PC, with the game released for every single other current platform. While there was no promises that the game would ever come to the PC, LucasArts have had a change of heart, asking Aspyr to get the game working not only on the PC, but on the Mac also. The PC version of the game will be be granted a new name, and feature a bunch of new content, hoping to follow on from the success of the console release, which sold six million copies.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Xbox 360 Review)

Sunday night movie time! Well, kinda. Movie-game tie-in review time, anyway! Tonight's special feature: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. We've recently been a bit spoiled with some pretty decent tie-ins, so we were on the edge of our collective seat wondering if JK Rowling's novel would make an enjoyable game. The series has had some ups and downs - will the sixth book be a hit? Matt Keller spent some time checking things out, in our latest review.

Wii Sports Resort (Wii Review)

With the innovation of Wii Motion Plus and the recent release of Wii Sports Resort, will we start to see a repeat of the "Wii Shoulder" physical ailments that plagued the launch of the console? Matt Keller's been spending some time with the new release - and even this seasoned gamer is not immune. His latest review came with a note that he's done "something painful" to his wrist - a result of too much Wii-sword fighting!

The Warp Pipe - 26/07/09

The video game industry has come far in the last thirty years, but we still can’t shake the perception that everything needs to be released in the fourth quarter of the year. It has gotten better, particularly in the last two years where heavy hitters like Grand Theft Auto IV, Resident Evil 5 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl were released in the first half of the year. Q4 2009 is still stacked with high profile titles, some of which will inevitably be overlooked in favour of Halo 3: ODST, Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin’s Creed 2. This week, The Warp Pipe is going to shed a bit of light on titles which are deserving of your attention this year, but are at risk of being lost in the Q4 shuffle.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (Xbox 360 Review)

Everybody has a favourite old LucasArts adventure game - and I'd wager that for more than a few gamers, The Secret of Monkey Island is where it's at. Well, as you may know, the clever developer-types have resuscitated the game, re-releasing the game in a new "Special Edition" for PC and Xbox 360. It's not exactly the same as you might remember it, there's been a few tweaks and changes - but what do you expect for a game that was initially released nearly 20 years ago? Matt Keller strapped on the rose-tinted glasses and peered into his adventurin' past, with our latest review.

Fallout 3 prepares for Mothership Zeta abductions with new patch

With the Mothership Zeta downloadable content for Fallout 3 due for release on the 3rd of August, Bethesda have released the Patch 1.7 for the game, which "prepares" the game for alien abduction, adding a few new achievements that will be associated with the downloadable content. While it would be nice if there were more new features with the actual patch, it looks like there isn't - with Update 1.7 only adding support for new achievements and a few behind the scenes alterations that will allow the Mothership Zeta downloadable content to actually work.

Guitar Hero 5 - the complete set list has arrived

Activision have finished the lengthy unveiling of the complete set list for the latest instalment in the Guitar Hero franchise, the creatively titled Guitar Hero 5. Left 4 Dead gets a quick update

If you thought the people over at Valve have been uncharacteristically quiet on the update front recently, you're wrong. Valve have proved this fact today, releasing a shiny new update for Left 4 Dead which fixes a few problems with the game. While the update and change-list isn't all that earth-shattering, the update does fix some important issues that could have made the life of some people very difficult. As always, your Steam client should automatically download the update. If it doesn't, restarting it will force the update to download.

DiRT 2 gets a new trailer featuring Ken Block

Those of you who have been following the development of DiRT 2 will be aware of the fact that world-famous driver, Ken Block, acted as a consultant on the game, providing feedback on the handling of vehicles, and all those other fun things that professional consults tend to do. In order for players to understand exactly what it is that Mr. Block contributed to the development of the game, Codemasters have thoughtfully provided us with a shiny new trailer in which Mr. Block speaks of his experiences within the game and within real-life, discussing traction, braking, and important driving actions.

Command & Conquer 4 - What should it be called?

You know you've got all the ideas. Your brain is packed full of great concepts and awesome thoughts that are just waiting for an excuse to get out and splash onto the page. You're a creative type, biding your time until your audience is ready. Well, they're ready now, with EA announcing a new competition to name Command & Conquer 4. Obviously, the first half of the name is pretty much set in stone, but the second half - the sub-title area - is an unknown quantity. Rather than think up something themselves, EA are throwing it open to the fans, to use the collective power of their brainmeats.
