Ghostbusters hits sales milestone; Sony exclusivity set to expire

So, Playstation 3 owners! How are you enjoying Ghostbusters? By all accounts it is pretty darn good; so good, in fact, that Atari are happy to announce that in the first month of its availability, in North America only, they've managed to shift over a million units. Given the films' cult following and the anticipation this title received, high sales were pretty much par for the course -but Atari CEO Jim Wilson sounds almost surprised:

Screens from the Wii and DS versions.
You'll notice there's been no celebratory press releases regarding sales in PAL territories, where a time-limited exclusivity deal saw the game confined to Playstation 2 and 3 releases. How might release on other platforms affect sales figures? We could be about to find out, with the end of Sony's exclusivity period apparently in sight.
Namco Bandai Partners, the enormous publisher and distributor that recently expanded into Australia, have got hold of the DS, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Ghostbusters and announced a European release date of October 23rd. This doesn't necessitate an equivalent Aussie date, unfortunately, but given Namco Bandai's strong local presence and our habitual inclusion in European affairs via the PAL territory umbrella, it's probably a pretty decent indicator.
If you've been debating your purchase depending on platform, you can now make your decision from a slightly-better informed position.
"We are very pleased with the performance of Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and credit the game's quality as well as the incredible support from both the established and new fan-base all helping to make this a retail success ... Ghostbusters appears to be a strong and relevant movie-based franchise video game independent of a brand-new theatrical release. We look forward to the continued success of the title as interest and acclaim increase across North America."
