Battlefield 1943 a bit worse for wear on Xbox 360

Further to EA's woes today is the news that the Battlefield 1943 launch didn't go quite as smoothly as they may have hoped.
The eagerly-anticipated title was released last night, Australian time, and it seems fans were a little too eager in their anticipation, with EA and developers DICE struggling to keep up with demand, and many gamers simply unable to play.

But back to last night's drama. Gordon Van Dyke from DICE comments on their official forums:

The PS3 version of Battlefield 1943 launches tomorrow, so here's hoping that the console network monkeys have figured out how to avoid the problem repeating itself. Fingers crossed also that by September, when the PC version is released, they've got the whole thing under control. From where I sit (in Australia, where there are no local servers), EA/DICE should perhaps reconsider their stance on third-party servers, and share the load just a little.

Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can't join unless someone leaves. But don't worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.Since that update, GVD has confirmed that they have added a whole bunch of servers, primarily in Europe, which should ease the load, if not fix it completely.
