For those of you who've always wanted to play a complete, virtual cover of your favourite songs from the dark times when Guitar Hero only involved a guitar, Acitivsion, have let us know that their latest instalment in the Guitar Hero series, Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits has been released, and is available on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360.

The latest in the series features some 48 tracks from previous Guitar Hero games, with many favourites returning to get the full band treatment.

Tracks from bands such as Pantera, Alice in Chains, Queen, Poison, Rage Against The Machine, and Twisted Sister will return in Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, which allows players to choose their role in the band like in Guitar Hero: World Tour and Guitar Hero: Metallica.

There's a nice collection of tracks, but whether it's worth your hard earned dollars is really, up to you. The game is available now from gaming retail emporiums around the country, and may or may not be a success with the public - only time will tell.
