[E3 2009] ModNation Racers - Race, Create, Share

Following on from the runaway success that is LittleBigPlanet, Sony took the time at their E3 press conference to reveal plans for their next game in the "Play, Create, Share" genre - creative kart racing, with ModNation Racers.
It's currently in development by United Front Games, and is promising a "thoroughly fresh" interpretation of the classic kart racer. Create your own Mod character (yes, he does look a bit familiar), and then stylize the vehicle he'll be racing in. As we saw at E3, it literally takes less than five minutes to create an imaginative track to race around - and share freely with the rest of the PlayStation community.
...there's also a single-player story mode if you're not feeling creative - an amusing little tale, packed full of pre-made karts, tracks and characters, as well as challenges for players of all skill levels.

With United Front coming from a very strong racing background (various team members were previously employed at EA Black Box, working on titles in the Need for Speed franchise), this won't just be a game that looks great, it should play great, too.
