[E3 2009] Now Playing - E3 2009 Special: Day 1
E3 has hit, and Now Playing is here to brace your fall. Today, we've got a staggering 40 trailers from Los Angeles to share with you, and there's a lot of jaws hitting the floor around these parts as a result.

While it isn't usually within the spirit of Now Playing to let you enjoy these trailers, today's barrage of good news has soothed its usual cynical shell into calmness.

Tonight, we bring you a first look at Just Cause 2, then try to fend off the Rabbids in Rabbids Go Home. After that, we take a look at Alan Wake and The Joker from Batman: Arkham Asylum. Finally, we find out that there are No More Heroes, again.

Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is a sequel to Just Cause, and places players in the middle of a large open world set on the South East Asian Island of Panau, where they can explore, shoot, drive, and climb their way through a game world that is 1000 sq km in size. Protagonist Rico Rodriquez from the first game returns, allowing the player to perform stunts and over-the-top action scenes through all sorts of weather, and circumstances including sky diving, and racing a dune buggy. The player will have the ability to travel by air, land and sea, and perform stunts on every single surface, and with every single vehicle. It'll be a massive game.

Rabbids Go Home

Rabbids are cute. They're also annoying. They plan to go home. Home just happens to be the moon. How do they get there when they're stuck on Earth? They take the things that humans make, and throw it all on great big a pile, that they plan to climb, in a bid to reach the moon. With their trusty shopping trolleys, the Rabbids unleash chaos and mayhem on the world in their own unique way. If you don't understand, watch the trailer, and then check out the other one to see what really goes on inside your Wii Remote.

Alan Wake

At many moments of its development history, Alan Wake, the new title from Max Payne creators, Remedy, has been branded "vapour ware" by many. Today at E3, a trailer has surfaced, along with a release date of "Spring 2010" (for the US at least), which means that the game is probably due to hit in the Autumn of 2010 in Australia. The trailer shows off some of the game's plot, graphics and characters, and, as can be expected from Remedy, looks pretty amazing.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum isn't all about the caped crusader. For you see, PlayStation 3 owners will be able to play as The Joker, the enigmatic bastion of evil that we all love to hate. The trailer shows off his character, creepy music, maniacal laughter, and more, along with new gameplay footage which is sure to make PlayStation 3 owners thankful for making the choice to purchase their black monolith, with the spinny fans, and the pretty lights, and the sleek black finish, and the... *snip*

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle was quickly announced by Ubisoft earlier today as part of their E3 press conference. The game will be released on the Wii, follow in the steps of the first game, and to quote the game's official announcement: "No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle continues the tale of punk anti-hero Travis Touchdown, the Japanese anime Otaku, and pro wrestling-obsessed assassin." You'll need to become a number 1 assassin all over again, this time with two swords, and while fighting off two bosses at once. Sounds like fun. I mean, two swords is MUCH better than one, right?

After Hours Screening
As it is E3 Week, we just can't bring ourselves to demean trailers to the status of "Didn't Make the Cut", which regularly graces Now Playing each week. To celebrate this, we've introduced a special After Hours Screening session, in which you can view all the trailers that didn't make it into Now Playing proper. They're all on the mirror, and ready for you to download or stream.
