[E3 2009] Splinter Cell: Conviction - more details and trailers from E3

At both the Ubisoft and Microsoft E3 press conferences in Los Angeles, the latest Sam Fisher outing, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction turned a lot of heads and made a lot of noise.

The game, which will be available on the Xbox 360 and PC in the Australian Spring of this year (Autumn for those in the Northern Hemisphere) will see players take on the role of an angry Sam Fisher, who is trying to find out who killed his daughter.

In Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, players will be able to interrogate enemies, and make use of new skills and gadgets. New gameplay features will allow players to perform executions against unsuspecting enemies and the game engine incorporate a "last known position" feature, which shows players the spot where the enemy last saw them.

In addition to this, a new graphical filter will help to show players when they are actually concealed, where the screen darkens, and potential objects in the environments which can be used against their foes are highlighted in colour.

The game promises to update the franchise, making it faster, darker and more immersive, to make players feel like a "predator". We've got two trailers from E3 to share with you - the first being a cinematic (and quite awesome looking) regular trailer, and the second being a gameplay trailer.
