As those who are waiting for the game with bated breath may already know, Batman: Arkham Asylum has been delayed until September. While the delay is probably disappointing, the delay is also a good thing, with Rocksteady Studios able to use the extended development time to polish the game.

It has also allowed the studio to release many more trailers introducing the villains of the game which the player, as the Caped Crusader, must fight. The latest of these introduces us to Poison Ivy, who is able to control plants.

Transformed into a plant and human hybrid after an experiment that went wrong, Poison Ivy was a Botanist named Pamela Lillian Isley.

As her "Professional Criminal" days began, Poison Ivy quickly developed a "toxic touch" and "pheromone-fuelled talent for seduction", all thanks to the chlorophyll running through her veins. As a result, Poison Ivy "abandoned" her human side, seeking to rid the world of humanity to make it safe for plant life.

In combat, Poison Ivy uses a number of her unique attributes to gain an advantage. In addition to being able to control and "encourage" the growth of plant life, she gains "formidable physical" advantages in combat. Her skin secretes a toxin that can make her touch deadly, and she is able to control her "victims" through "natural pheromones".

Poison Ivy, along with Bane and Harley Quinn will face Batman within the walls of Arkham Asylum in September, when the game finally launches on the PC, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
