Street Fighter IV - will your PC run it?

Capcom have unveiled the hardware requirements for the PC version of Street Fighter IV, which is due on the 2nd of July, this year. While the requirements are fairly reasonable there is no minimum requirement of a game pad - which Street Fighter purists would argue is an oversight by Capcom.

The recommended (or Maximum, as Capcom have dubbed them) system requirements do, however cite the benefits of a game pad, suggesting that the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows as an ideal control method for the game.

The game doesn't seem to be all that demanding, with the minimum requirements being Windows XP, a 2.0GHz Pentium 4 or faster, 1GB of RAM (or more), 10GB of hard disk space, and a DirectX 9.0c / Shader Model 3 graphics card with at least 256MB of RAM. This means that the game will run on cards such as a GeForce 6600, or a ATi Radeon X1600. A DirectSound, DirectX 9.0 compatible sound card is also required.

The recommended requirements for the game begin with Windows Vista, a 2.0GHz Core2Duo, 2GB of RAM (or more), 10GB of hard disk space, and a graphics card with 512MB or more of memory that supports Shader Model 3.0 and DirectX 9.0c - this means anything better than (and including) a GeForce 8600 or ATi Radeon X1900. Again, a DirectSound, DirectX 9.0 compatible sound card is required.

One would anticipate that the PC version of Street Fighter IV will contain in-depth options for the customisation of controllers, allowing PC owners with joysticks and other peripherals to customise the controls to their own personal needs and tastes.

The PC version of Street fighter IV is due on the 2nd of July, this year. No word on a playable demo has yet come through, but if we do hear about one, we will let you know.
