Modern Warfare 2 details revealed
Infinity Ward are still remaining pretty quiet on what exactly will be involved in their upcoming Modern Warfare 2, but some new details have come to light, and they're sure to prompt some interesting discussions.

Among the revelations: The game has a few improvements over CoD4 - running at higher detail with 60fps, slightly more open-ended gameplay, a longer single-player campaign and some of the enemy respawn issues have been fixed. There's some new hints about potential locations, but also the announcement that there will be no co-op in story mode. (And yes. Snowmobiles.)

The first bunch of news is to be included in the latest issue of Game Informer magazine (apparently it's been sent out early!), and include:

Call of Duty 4
  • No co-op included in story mode, however separate missions (similar to CoD4 Mile High Club) will include co-op multiplayer

  • Snowmobiles! They will be used in the "wintery bits" of the game, to escape attack - unclear whether they will be able to be driven, or if players will shoot from them. Also, ice walls will feature, which can be climbed by alternating between the two console triggers

  • Online multiplayer to feature a new live-patching system, which does away with the annoyance of downloadable patches

  • 60 frames-per-second, higher detail than CoD4

  • Movable turrets, riot shields mentioned as included, along with customisable weapons for single-player enemies

  • Still linear, but slightly more open-ended than CoD4

  • Stealth can now be used "if you like"

  • Enemy respawn issues are being looked at (to fix the issue in CoD4 where enemies would automatically respawn until a player crossed a line)

  • Single-player campaign promises to be longer than that in CoD4
Then, continuing the media barrage, there's also a story in the latest edition of UK-based PSM3:

Call of Duty 4
  • Swimming mode enabled.

  • A ‘Stealthy’ Oil pipeline Scuba Mission will be included in campaign mode.

  • A level will definetly be based in Rio De Janeiro.

  • Siberian Level will feature in campaign mode.

  • Vehicles (e.g. Trucks, Tanks etc.) will be introduced into the Modern Era.

  • A ‘Helicopter Based’ Level will be featured.

  • An Oil Tanker level will also be featured.

  • Ken Lally (Wesker from Resident Evil 5) will be voice acting. Most likely as a Russian villain.
This, plus the sneaky preview trailer we saw the other day will surely give you enough to think about for a little while - how are they going to implement these features? How are they going to work together? Snowmobiles!

Stay tuned, we'll have more to share as it's revealed about Modern Warfare 2.
