So much so, in fact, that Electronic Arts have released new pieces of downloadable content for the title, and in a move that is likely to give many gamers a bout of cardiac arrest, one entire half of the downloadable content will be available for free.
Free?! You say, "That can't be right". Well it is. And no, it isn't some strange gimmick. The free content is the Challenge Series content, which introduces sixty new events, two new game modes and the ability to unlock three new vehicles. The first new game mode are Highway Wars, which sees a combination of Highway Battles and sprint racing, in which the player races three AI opponents across the highway while dodging traffic in a bid to reach the finish line first.
The second new game mode is Highway Checkpoint, which is a checkpoint game mode, limited to the highways, with traffic the only thing in their way. Hint: Dodge and weave. As players progress through the challenges, they will be able to unlock new cars. Those who win thirty events will gain a Battle Machine Mazda RX-7, and those who win all sixty Challenge events will unlock the Speed Machine Porsche 911 GT2. Finally, those who dominate 31 events will unlock the Dominator Corvette Z06.
The Challenge Series content is available on the PC, PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 and is free of charge.

The second half of the downloadable content for the title is comprised of the Boss Car Pack, which costs real world money, (400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox, and US$5 on the PlayStation Network) and is available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.
The Boss Car Pack allows gamers to grab the cars that the... (as the name suggests) Boss characters from the single player portion of Need For Speed: Undercover race around in. These include a Shelby GT500, a BMW M6, a Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 a Nissan 370Z, a Porsche 911 GT2 and a Volkswagen Scirocco.
All content is now available on the respective marketplaces for the individual platforms.
