Today, a title for the first game in the series has been announced, Resident Evil Archives, which will include a complete remake of the original Resident Evil, with all new rooms, areas, items and creatures that did not make it into the original PlayStation release of the game. In addition, the first screenshots for the title have also been released.
How do Capcom achieve such a feat, you may ask? Very easily. Using the 2002 GameCube release of the game as a base, the Wii version will feature the exact same features of the GameCube version: ten endings, two playable characters, an array of weapons, puzzles, and one of the most lauded survival horror experiences of all gaming history.

Those who still have a copy of the GameCube version of the game lying around need not apply, as judging from the screenshots, it doesn't look like a whole lot has improved since then.
Resident Evil Archives will first take players to the Arkay Mountain area, where players will, as Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield investigate reports of people who have gone missing. There, they become trapped within an ominous mansion, which happens to be the center of some genetic research which just happens to reanimate the dead, resulting in shambling zombies, horrific mutations, and rabid, flesh eating dogs.
Resident Evil Archives is currently scheduled for release in June, and will be available on the Nintendo Wii.
