Introversion seek publisher for DS incarnation of Defcon
As avid PC gamers are aware, nuclear war has raged on our platform for quite some time in the form of Introversion's excellent game, DEFCON. The eager developer has announced that it has regained the rights to a Nintendo DS version of the title, which was developed in conjunction with "troubled distributor" Pinnacle.

A press release issued by Introversion indicates that a DS version of DEFCON is complete. It is currently seeking a publisher for the title, which was well received by PC gamers when it was first released in 2006 on the PC and Mac platforms.

Mark Morris, Director of Introversion is confident that ... should the company find a publisher for the title, the game would be met with much success at retail:
With the DSi flying off the shelves recently, we believe that there will be particular interest in a finished DS product with such a great track record, especially as the RTS/Strategy sector is so poorly served on the platform.
While it is no secret that DEFCON met the needs of a PC audience at the time, its performance on a hand held platform may be met with ... lower than expected results at retail, given that DS owners don't appear to be all that fond of serious attempts at "mature games" on the platform.

In any case, Introversion have appointed the services of "veteran agents" from the aptly titled Bad Management to deal with the presumed influx of interest from publishers in the DS incarnation of DEFCON. John Cook, a Senior Partner at Bad Management expressed his hopes regarding the title:
In the current risk-averse environment, companies are placing a premium on finished products with a well-established brand and track record. DEFCON DS is a fantastic publishing opportunity, and we’re confident we will be able to find the right fit for Introversion.
Introversion anticipate that a publisher will be found, deals will be arranged, and a new DEFCON game, complete with stylus support, and a "unique game mechanic" will arrive on the Nintendo DS at some point in the third quarter of this year.
