Duke Nukem Forever - 71 bottles of beer on the wall, 71 bottles ...

Duke likes to keep the ladies waiting.
Duke Nukem Forever. The much fabled, long-storied and still perpetually-in development title from 3D Realms once more hits headlines. The studio, still alive and kicking, has released an informal "update" on the title, cortesey of George Broussard, one of the figure-heads behind the mythical title.

In a recent post to his Twitter account, Broussard indicates that 3D Realms are fast approaching a mysterious "milestone" in the development of Duke Nukem Forever. As is usually the case, the nature of the milestone is not defined, but numbers are indeed disclosed. The number in question - 71. What this number means however, is anyone's guess.

The tweet, emitted from the keyboard of Broussard states:
Closing out a milestone this week. 71 more tasks to do and we started with probably 800-900. Been a good push. Next one starts Monday.
Incredibly informative, I'm sure. 71 "tasks" could be bug-fixes, twitter posts, or the number of people who have passed from this life while hoping to see Duke Nukem Forever come to fruition.

Apparently, the title is still using an Unreal engine of sorts, and will appear on the consoles alongside the PC, now, as well. Once 3D Realms stops being cryptic, and actually releases some official information on the title - we'll let you know.

The release date, however, remains "When it is done". Yay.
