Rabbids to break away into their own game franchise

Rabbids in the real world. Say your prayers, now.
With the chocolate-induced sickness suffered by many begining to wear off, Ubisoft have already started thinking about the next religious holiday, Christmas. As a present to all fans of Rabbids, the company will oversee the deployment of a stand-alone title based on the mischievous creatures that first appeared in Rayman games.

Entering the real-world, in which they are not welcome, the comical-characters will appear on the Nintendo Wii in Rabbids Go Home. The game will release just in time for the Christmas rush to be purchased by consumers and distributed as the stuff of gifts en-masse.
The game will feature a new engine, designed for the Nintendo Wii which will enable the debut of the Rabbids in their own game to go smoothly, with the promise of a "hilarious adventure in a brand new universe".

Rabbids Go Home is currently in development at the Ubisoft Montpellier studio, who have previously worked on Rayman Raving Rabbids along with other projects, which ensures that the title will be up to scratch with previous titles tied closely to the characters themselves.

It isn't the first time that supporting characters have managed to break the chains of bondage that tie them to well known protagonists to form an all all-new franchise (Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? immediately springs to mind) - so it seems that Rabbids Go Home will no doubt find a place in many homes when it is released later this year.

More details regarding the title are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. We'll bring you more information as we gather it, once these pesky Rabbids stop attacking our keyboards and other office equipment.
