Dark Void score penned by Battlestar Galactica's composer
Dark Void, the surprisingly under-hyped forthcoming action title, slipped back into our consciousnesses in March when the PR machine started to kick into gear. Does this mean the game's release is imminent? Well, the rumour mill is currently pitching late May or early June, but other sources are betting on a date closer to Christmas. Whatever the case is, information is certainly starting to leak from behind the developers Airtight control, with the most recent announcement providing the welcome news that composer Bear McCreary is behind the game's music.

Mr McCreary is no stranger to the atmosphere of science fiction that pervades Dark Void's blend of aerial and more traditional third person combat; he's the man behind the acclaimed soundtrack to Battlestar Galactica. From the sounds (ha!) of things, he's pretty pleased with the project, too:
"When I got the call from Capcom to work on the music for Dark Void, I jumped at the chance to do it, considering my love for Capcom games. ... I have been looking for the opportunity to compose a game score for a long time, but I’ve been waiting for the right one. Dark Void’s epic story and unique gameplay drew me in immediately and I have had a lot of fun working on the project.”

Among the classically-trained Mr. McCreary's other popular credits is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, so his action and sci-fi credentials certainly look up to the task of matching Dark Void, which revolves around a mysterious parallel world ruled by an unpleasant race of beings known as the Watchers. Our hero, Will, is sucked into this nightmarish realm after the cargo plane he was piloting crashes in the Bermuda Triangle. There's only one option; don a jetpack and kick some butt! With a core team of Crimson Skies veterans behind the title, we can expect some pretty decent action in the balmy blue skies.

Looking exceedingly pretty and apparently going to sound divine, Dark Void swoops onto PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime this year. Check out our screens and quite enormous collection of trailers for a better look at the action!
