Bounty Hunter revealed as first class for Star Wars: The Old Republic

Bioware have revealed that the Bounty Hunter will be the first playable class from their upcoming MMO - Star Wars: The Old Republic. As infamous and anonymous figures, Bounty Hunters align themselves with whoever offers the most lucrative contract.

Using flame-throwers and missile launchers, Bounty Hunters spend their days scouring the galaxy for their targets, which are often prominent and powerful people who are prepared for a fight. As such, the life of a Bounty Hunter within The Old Republic is one which is highly dangerous, competitive, and deadly.

The Bounty Hunter wants not only money - but glory - with each successful assassination, their standing within the Galaxy grows - meaning that they can charge their clients more, and sometimes dictate their own terms.

Comprised of all races, the Bounty Hunter can often have strange ideals - some will sell their services to the highest bidder, whilst others will have their own agenda, instead working only for organisations or individuals which they respect.

Things won't always go right however, with many Bounty Hunters having to deal with complications from their employers, and the ever-present threat of competition from fellow Bounty Hunters meaning that the assassin could quickly become hunted by one of their colleagues.

Using "cutting edge" protective gear, the Bounty Hunter favours heavy armour, which is crafted by Artisans who can sometimes spend years perfecting the equipment which protects the Bounty Hunter in battle against all weapon types. With access to a flame-thrower and missile launcher, the Bounty Hunter is no stranger to firearms - with many rumoured to have spent so many credits on an advanced blaster that they could have purchased a starship instead.

Nicknamed "Jedi Killers", the Bounty Hunters can confront force-users in direct combat, with the use of technology a core component of their combat prowess. Along with their vast array of gadgets, the Bounty Hunter is a versatile warrior who knows no fear.

More classes from Star Wars: The Old Republic will be revealed in the lead-up to the game's release. The first MMO from Bioware is set in galaxy far, far away, and takes place in a relatively untouched period of Star Wars history, which gives both the development team and players freedom to do as they choose without contradicting the events of the Star Wars films.
