Dubbed the "modern day spy-rpg", Apha Protocol sees worldwide tensions at "at breaking point" when a U.S missile strikes a commercial jet in the skies of Europe, killing everyone on board. In the ensuing political and public relations nightmare, the U.S government sends agent Michael Thorton in to investigate - and he's given the authority to bring those responsible for the act to justice.
While Obsidian Entertainment may be better known for their work on games set in medieval time frames (such as the expansion packs for Neverwinter Nights 2) - Alpha Protocol looks like it could be a nice breath of fresh air in a market that is continually saturated with sequels and expansion packs.
The game promises that it will contain "more options than any other RPG", unprecedented control over Throrton's character development, and access to a wide array of weapons, including hand to hand combat, a number of various weapons, cutting edge tech, and even subterfuge and seduction.

Players will be able to unravel the Alpha Protocol mystery in October this year, with agents to be dispatched across the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A precise release date is not yet known (it is part of the mystery!) but we'll be sure to bring you more information as we learn more.
In the meantime - why not check out the collection screenshots and trailers that are safely tucked away on the mirror, along with our previous news coverage?
