Fable 2 gets accolades, third title rumoured
Fable 2 has taken away a prestigious award. At the British Academy of Film and Art Awards last night, the Lionhead developed Xbox 360 exclusive RPG won best Action and Adventure game. While it is a great achievement for Lionhead, the aftermath of the awards ceremony has seen the rumour mill regarding the next game in the Fable franchise begin to churn, with the title presumed to be known as Fable 3 (So incredibly creative, yes?).

The information regarding the probably-inevitable third instalment in the series was revealed by BBC personality, Jonathan Ross, who has been (according to a twitter post) asked to do some voice acting for the game. Following his initial tweet, Ross then confirmed that others had also been asked to provide vocal talent, before finally denying the existence of the title in a third and final post.

The tweets, in order reveal the following information:
Goodnight all. Must go to bed. Got asked to do voice in Fable 3 tonight. Subarashi. Oyasuminasia. Woss out.
Yes they are doing it. Charlie Brooker said he would do a voice for it to Great fun!!
Good morning. Today i must file DVD's, write a piece for The Times, apologize to Peter Molyneux then go Thorpe Park for SAW rollercoaster !
Finally, in response to one of his followers:
yes. No. there is no Fable 3. I don't know. help me
Both Lionhead and Microsoft have remained quiet on the manner, as is expected.

While it is inevitable that the proverbial Fable cash-cow will continue to have its udders milked for quite some time, the official existence of a third title in the series is not confirmed at this stage.

Instead, the focus should be on the event that sparked the flying rumours - Fable 2 won a British Academy of Film and Art Award (BAFTA), which is serious, prestigious business. For those that don't get what all the fuss is about, the BAFTA awards are considered one of the highest honours in the industry, as Peter Molyneux studio director of Lionhead explains with some measure of pride:
For us the BAFTA’s are one of the most important video games awards with its British and film association – our BAFTA for Fable II will take pride of place in our offices. The team at Lionhead put a great deal of passion, hard work and care into making Fable II, so it is fantastic to get this kind of recognition from both fans and the judges.
Fable 2 - which is now deemed the cream of the crop in "Action and Adventure" by the British Academy of Film and Art - is available exclusively on the Xbox 360. If you'd rather not take the word of BAFTA on the matter, you can always read our review.
