Ubisoft confirm no World in Conflict: Soviet Assault for consoles

Soviet Artillery, dreamy.
Earlier this month, Martin Walfisz, CEO of Massive Entertainment told a Swedish news outlet that World in Conflict: Soviet Assault would not see a release on consoles due to a number of quality concerns that were raised internally at the studio.

While Walfisz's word was definitive at the time, it was not backed by a statement from Ubisoft, who picked up the publishing rights to the game amidst the fallout of the Activision Blizzard formation. Today, Ubisoft have officially noted that the game will not see a release on consoles "at this time".

While the announcement from Ubisoft certainly doesn't rule out the possibility of a game from Massive Entertainment making its way to the consoles, it looks fairly unlikely that World in Conflict: Soviet Assault will branch out further than the PC in the near future.

The Soviet Assault mission pack will add six new single player missions, with the Soviet side of the conflict explained in the same style as the U.S campaign which shipped with World in Conflict. In addition, two new multiplayer maps will be added, with do_Berlin and do_Norway.

World in Conflict: Soviet Assault is currently on track for a release on the PC on the 12th of March. It will be available at retail in two flavours. For those that don't own World in Conflict - you will be able to pick up World in Conflict: Complete Edition for a RRP of AU$49.95. Those that already own World in Conflict will be able to pick up just the expansion for AU$29.95.

Those not wanting to spend any money will still be able to download the new multi player maps, free of charge, in a bid to prevent segregation amongst the World in Conflict community.
