The Last Remnant gets a playable PC Demo

Square Enix have released a demo for the PC version of their multi-platform RPG, The Last Remnant. Weighing in at just over 1GB (unmetered data for Internode customers), we've got the demo ready for you to download from the file mirror.

The Last Remnant is the first Square Enix RPG in a long time to make its way to the PC. Powered by the Unreal 3 engine, the game focuses on a world that is torn apart by conflict over mysterious artefacts known as "Remnants", which is filled "exhilarating, large scale battles".

In order to run The Last Remnant, Square Enix recommend that you have at least a Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2 at 2GHz, with 1.5GB of RAM, 15GB of HDD Space, and at least a GeForce 8600 with 256MB of memory. For those wishing to run at higher resolutions, a CPU at 2.4GHz is required, along with 2GB of RAM, and a video card with 512MB or more of graphics memory.

While the requirements seem fairly accessible, if you're not sure whether or not your system can run the game, you can always download the smaller benchmark client, which should give you a fairly good indication as to how the game will perform on your system.

The Last Remnant is currently available on the Xbox 360, with the PC version due to be released in Australia at some point in March. In the mean time, the demo should keep you occupied for a while. If you'd like to know more about The Last Remnant, check out our previous coverage.
