The PlayStation Network, which is free to browse, can be accessed from the PS3, PSP and PC, with a large number of on-line services - including multi player gaming, chat, messaging, and downloads provided to over 55 countries around the world. Part of the PlayStation network, the PlayStation Store, offers over 14,500 pieces of "diverse digital content", including downloadable UMD games, demos, and more.
In the US, over 5,900 films and TV episodes are available through the PlayStation Network's "video delivery service", with some US$180 million having been spent through the PlayStation Network by consumers. On the PlayStation 3, the December launch of PlayStation Home has now seen four million users, while Life With PlayStation, now boasts 2.6 million users.
While there is still debate within many gaming circles regarding "which" console offers a better online experience, Sony's twenty million registered users can be expect more in the the future, with the company intending to work with its "content providers and users" to "further expand" the entertainment value of the Network across the PSP and PS3.
