New Street Fighter IV World Record

Possibility of thighs like that = why I won't cycle.
When the arcade reigned supreme, every Friday afternoon found crowds huddled anxiously around the beat-'em-ups, gambling a whole week's worth of pocket money on the chance to take out the local champion. Some of those guys were simply amazing, and could get a whole evening's entertainment out of one token, sending dozens of hopefuls away disappointed. It seems this age has risen again, and on Friday afternoon, the first of Street Fighter IV's zombie lifespan, one bloke smashed his way into the Guinness World Records with 108 consecutive victories.

Zak Bennett took on all comers in London, and achieved the mammoth streak on his second attempt. During his first, he was beaten on only his 28th match, but since the challenger's queue was still extending out the door, they let him have another go. Clearly he was just warming up the first time.

It seems incredible that somebody was already willing to set himself up as world champion so soon after release, given that by Friday afternoon, most players wouldn't even have had time to play for more than a few hours! With the cost of arcade session rising, even the potential for cabinet practice seems slim. While many of the moves and combos of Street Fighter IV are familiar to veterans of the series, opinion amongst those who've put a bit of time into the title already (lucky them!) seem to indicate that there's a world of knowledge there to be mastered.

With Street Fighter IV's online features, it won't be long before players around the globe are aware of their standing in the greater tournament, so perhaps we can expect the cry of "here comes a new challenger!" to ring our across the Guiness World Records in the near future.
