With no means to publish the title at the present time, Midway have entered a strategic relationship with Ubisoft Entertainment. The relationship will see Ubisoft publish, market, and distribute the game in North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Austria, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
In The Wheelman players take on the role of Vin Diesel, an "expert driver for hire" in an open-world action racing game that features the actor's likeness, voice and is based loosely on the film of the same name, The Wheelman.
Matt Booty, President and CEO of Midway Games seems relieved that the game will see a release and distribution:
Ubisoft’s decision to join Midway in a co-publishing agreement is a gratifying validation of Wheelman’s potential. Ubisoft has a proven expertise at bringing new IP to market, which will allow us to reach a broader consumer segment with Wheelman, while helping Midway to balance the risk profile of our product portfolio.

Meanwhile, Tony Key, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft had the following to say:
We are pleased to be partnering with Midway to bring Wheelman to stores worldwide. The cutting edge open-world driving technology in Wheelman should make for an experience that gamers will enjoy. The Wheelman is currently scheduled to ship to retailers on the 26th of March this year, and will be available on the PC, PlayStation and the Xbox 360. A demo for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will be made available prior to release.
