| For those of you who've been sitting on the fence in regards to picking up one of the consoles, Microsoft have just announced an upcoming offer that may be difficult to resist. To coincide with the release of Halo Wars, every new Xbox 360 console sold between the 26th of February and 26th of March will be complimented with a free copy of Halo Wars. As can be expected by an offer of this sort, the limited time frame that the offer will be available is also accompanied with a disclaimer of the fact that it is "while stocks last" only. The offer should be available at all retailers of the console, and applies to purchases of each flavour of the console, including the Arcade, Elite, and the Pro. Halo Wars, due for release on the 26th of February, sees Ensemble Studios transition the popular first-person Halo franchise to the land of console RTS, with the player able to command vast armies against the Covenant threat. For those that have been umming and arring in regards to the purchase of an Xbox 360 - this deal may be the ticket to push a few people over the edge - with the Xbox 360 Arcade SKU beginning at an RRP of $299, it is the cheapest entry point to the console market at the moment, and is backed by an impressive library of games. For $399, you can pick up a 60GB Pro version of the console, which enables better online functionality through support for large downloadable content updates, and the ability to "install" games to the hard drive to escape loud drive noise. For those that must hae everything absolutely the best - the Elite, complete with HDMI cables and a 120GB Hard drive and black paint job, is available for a RRP $549. With some retailers already offering impressive bundles with the purchase of a console, it will be interesting to see if these will be offered in combination with a free copy of Halo Wars. | ![]() | |
