There will be three competitive, multiplayer maps, and one map for the zombie survival mode. The map pack should be release in March. No pricing has been announced at this stage, and it is unclear as to whether it will actually cost anything.
The first of the new multiplayer maps, dubbed "Nightfire" will be set in the darkened streets of Berlin, where games can take a leisurely stroll through a war-torn neighbourhood. The next map, "Knee Deep" is set in a Pacific jungle. The last multiplayer map moves the setting back to Europe, where gamers will battle one another in a bombed-out subway map called "Station".
Finally, the first map pack will include a new playable map for the zombie survival mode. Named "Verrückt", the map will cause the team to split up across the map as multiple waves of zombies come towards you with one intent - to eat your (virtual) flesh. "Verrückt" will feature some new weapons, "electroshock defense systems" and a "Perks-a-Cola" machine allowing gamers to buy new multiplayer perks to assist them in the fights against the zombies.
The first map pack, which is creatively called "Map Pack 1" is due to hit the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March. Treyarch have also noted that it is just the first in what plans to be a series of map pack releases and downloadable content packs for Call of Duty: World at War.
