Nintendo release sales figures to date for Wii and DS games

Top sellers on the DS were a little more modest, with 21.67 million bones were thrown to Nintendogs worldwide. New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day (known locally as Prof. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?) rounded up the top three sellers on the handheld, with 17.63 and 16.82 million sales respectively.
In total, since the launch of the Nintendo Wii and DS, twenty-six titles have sold more than a million copies - which ones are they? Read on to find out!
The sales figures quoted below show all titles that have sold more than one million copies as of April 2008. Let's begin with the Wii sales figures - which shows Wii Sports absoultely dominating the playing field - having sold nearly twice the amount of its nearest competitor:
The DS fared nearly as well as the Wii - displaying further market penetration than the former, with a larger number of titles having sold more than one million copies:
- Wii Sports - 40.5 Million
- Wii Play - 20.91 Million
- Wii Fit - 14.01 million
- Mario Kart Wii - 13.67 million
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl - 8.1 million
- Super Mario Galaxy - 7.66 million
- Mario Party 8 - 6.28 million
- Animal Crossing: City Folk - 3.22 million
- Wii Music - 2.50 million
- Link's Crossbow Training - 2.44 million
- Mario Super Sluggers - 1.21 million
Wii Sports
More locally, in Australia, the Nintendo DS was the best selling Nintendo platform, having sold "more than" 800,000 units in 2008, with 212,000 DS consoles to be found under Christmas trees in December. More than 1.7 million DS consoles have been sold in Australia alone, which is a large number - given the fact that one million of those were sold just before the platform's third birthday. Meanwhile, in 2008, the Nintendo Wii found a home in "more than" 685,000 homes, with 191,000 sold in month of December.

To complete Nintendo's round of success for 2008, eight of the top ten selling console titles were at home on Nintendo platforms. These included Wii Fit as the top seller, Wii Play, Mario Kart Wii, Mario & Sonic At The Olympics (Wii), Brain Training, Mario & Sonic At The Olympics (Nintendo DS), Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Big Beach Sports Wii.
