More locally, in Australia, the Nintendo DS was the best selling Nintendo platform, having sold "more than" 800,000 units in 2008, with 212,000 DS consoles to be found under Christmas trees in December. More than 1.7 million DS consoles have been sold in Australia alone, which is a large number - given the fact that one million of those were sold just before the platform's third birthday. Meanwhile, in 2008, the Nintendo Wii found a home in "more than" 685,000 homes, with 191,000 sold in month of December.

To complete Nintendo's round of success for 2008, eight of the top ten selling console titles were at home on Nintendo platforms. These included Wii Fit as the top seller, Wii Play, Mario Kart Wii, Mario & Sonic At The Olympics (Wii), Brain Training, Mario & Sonic At The Olympics (Nintendo DS), Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Big Beach Sports Wii.
