Steamy Weekend Celebrations - Piles of new stuff!
By Jessica Citizen - Sat Jan 24, 2009 11:20am
To start your weekend, we have a whole bunch of Steam news. You can save a bundle on Mount & Blade, scare yourself silly with Penumbra Black Plague, test out your strategy with Harvest: Massive Encounter and Hearts of Iron II, or perhaps just go about updating your zombies with a new tweak for Left 4 Dead.
While we've got more details on all of those deals, if you're the type of person who only wants to know about the zombies, just restart your Steam client, and the update will download automagically.

Mount & Blade, Penumbra Black plague
If you're still with us, I can tell you that this weekend is shaping up pretty nicely if you were looking for some new games. You can get 75% off of the sandbox RPG Mount & Blade. Whether you want to play as a commander of armies, an owner of villages, a proud castle-dweller or a solo adventurer, this is the game for you - a "must have" for RPG fans.
After something a little more scary? Penumbra Black Plague is now available too - where you are tasked with collecting clues and solving vexing puzzles, all while battling with the gnawing psychological terrors that run just beneath the surface, threatening to strip you of your sanity. Steam is offering a special Gold Edition, featuring both Penumbra Black Plague and the expansion, Requiem - and get in quick, it's 10% off if you pick them up before January 30th.

Harvest: Massive Encounter Hearts of Iron II
Also now available is indie strategy title, Harvest: Massive Encounter. Boasting a unique style of resource management, plus battles of epic proportions, this one sounds like a bit of a treat for RTS fans. Your job is to stay alive for as long as you can on the game's planets, competing on the world-wide high-score lists, or just trying to beat your own best. If that's not enough, this edition comes with 25 Steam Achievements for you to unlock, too!
...want more strategy? Like something a bit more military? Check out Hearts of Iron II, which has just appeared on Steam along with its two expansions, Doomsday and Armageddon. As the ruler of one of 175 countries throughout World Wars II and III, you watch as the Allies and Soviets clash in Europe, and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Again, if you grab this one quick, you'll save 10% before January 30th.
Finally, the zombie-huntin' update for you:
